WOW...

I cannot believe that I am in Montana.... and my brother, who is a blood relative of mine, will be serving in the freakin Phillipines. The two most opposite places in the world. That is very interesting. I wonder If Elder Rasband was sitting in on mission assignments with Elder Eyring again. Great. The Church is letting the amateurs run the show.

Well. Holy Crap. I cant believe it. Haha. That is going to be soo sweet. Riding Water Buffalo to appts. Eating worms, crickets, half baked fertilized eggs, toe jam, horse poop, rice, rice, rice, rice, rice, rice, rice, rice, rice, rice, rice, rice, rice, rice, chicken, rice rice,. Ha that is going to be sweet. I dont know much about the Philipines other than we helped an indian man email an online girlfriend who lived in the Province. Wherever that is.

Lets just to a little comparison between the two different missions. (this will just be from what I assume though) In MBM (Montana Billings Mission) we drive trucks and cars, in the PH mission you ride animals. In the MBM there are winters and lots of snow, in the PH Mission its summer all year long. IN the MBM there are lots of farmers and ranchers. wheat vs rice. Running water vs horrible plumbing. Church meetings in a Church vs. a HUT. White people vs All Brown. English vs Tagalog. Cowboys vs Savages. A few missing teeth vs. NO TEETH. the list goes on and on. HAHA. I cant wait. Maybe we can go pick Jare Bear up after his mission is done with so I can find me a Philipino wife and ride a water buffalo.

We got the news this morning that for the month of April we broke the 50 mark for baptisms. That hasnt been done in about 3 years. Its pretty exciting. We are shooting for 600 baptisms this year and 400 reactivations. A total of 1000. Im sure in Jareds mission they will have a couple times a year where they have over 1000 baptisms a month! Guarantee it. That is just crazy. This whole last week ive been slitting my wrists to know where he would go. You know what that mission is going to be? SO SICK (Pound pound x2) Cant wait now for July 14th. Keep me informed.

As for Paul McCartney and myself, I admit, its getting better, getting better all the time. We have now droppped over 8 or 9 investigators now and got told by Elder Egbert and Elder Cox that we just need to white wash the area. WEEEE. Tracting for 24/7. WEEEE. SOO fun. The best lesson we had this last week was with Karl the Prophet, who knows the bible better than I know that the Philipines is going to be a sweet mission. I took Elder Egbert over there with me and we taught a little about the restoration of the Gospel. But with steroids involved. I cant believe that after 2 years of the missionaries seeing this guy not once have they ever taught him anything. I guess they must have been too scared? It was cool to see how strong the spirit was and then Karl just blew it off like it was nothing. Karl = Goodbye aka Dropped. Along with 8 other lovely people that have just had the missionaries over to do visit teaching. Morons. Like I said; we are now working from the ground up. On the side of everything, we got to help out some families shear sheep and brand cows again. Sometimes I convince myself that I want to be a rancher but then reality hits me and I tell my conscience NO. Theres been a non member guy and his member wife coming to church, from what we've been told, the last couple months and he is getting ready to do some branding so we might go out there and help him out. He lives about 40 miles out of town though.

I was thinking the other day and I realized that Lewistown reminds me of that movie, WILD AMERICA. It is so eeriely similar. Just the people and the community. Lewistown is a little smaller than Polson but a lot nicer. Maybe because its not on an indian reservation? I dont know. That would be my guess. You know how there are just some awesome families in any ward you go to? Well, Every ward Ive served in now has a couple of families that just make the missionaries feel at home and really make the mission an awesome experience. The type of families that help out anyone with anything, especially this missionary. Well, the families that Im talking about in Lewistown are the Allens and the Days. Another one of those families that you will get to meet one day. Sister Allen is from Queen Creek. Elder Davis who is serving in Havre took her niece to Prom. Also, There is a brand new missionary who is serving in Roundup from Gilbert. His name is Elder Buckman and he went to Basha. Ive only just talked to him on the phone.

We had a nice baptism for a two sisters named Melissa and Kayla. Melissa is 11 and Kayla is 8. Their Grandparents are active but all of their parents, uncles, Mom and Dad arent. It was nice to see their family come out. For some reason, I felt the spirit a lot stronger at their baptism than I have almost at any other baptism that I can think of. It was a good Sunday. The Ward is awesome. The members are awesome. They had me go up before the talks and give a little shpeel about myself. They love the missionaries and missionary work. In almost every prayer that I heard Sunday they prayed for the missionaries and missionary work.

Thats about it for my week. We’ve got district meeting in Havre tomorrow so we are driving the 200 miles today instead of tomorrow morning.

RANDOM info: Bro Day and Bro Ricks bother served in England, Leeds mission.

Hey

I finally made it to the middle of nowhere. Lots to write about.
Before we hit all the Lewistown hab jab Let us finish off with Helena. The Stones, as you can probably recall, set a baptismal date for the 1st of May. Both Elder Lewis and I spaced their Word of Wisdom issues but still were confident that they would be able to pull through. I mean, cmon, Its the Gospel of Jesus Christ, with the help of the Gospel you can do anything. Especially, quiting smoking, etc, peace pipes, sage brush and other misc burnt offerings that are inhaled or not. Going to back to the Word of Wisdom deal, we both agreed that we needed to teach it ASAP so that they could get started on quitting smoking. So we did...... and it didnt go too well. They knew that smoking was bad and they wanted to quit but they just did not understand why they had to be living the word of wisdom before they were baptized. They have an uncle who lives in Townsend and he is a member so before we met with him again the Stones wanted to talk with him about the smoking thing. They did and the uncle said he didnt know so He had to talk with someone else. Hopefully things will get worked out.

Now for Lewistown:
Lewistown is only about 6,000 people and is very country. Its about 120 miles away from any other city, but surrounded by small towns and nuclear missile silos. I heard yesterday that Montana, even more specifically, The area of Lewistown, holds over 1/3 of the nations nukes. So, do’tt worry about me. I am safe.

We live in a tri-plex house type deal. There are two apts on the bottom and we have the whole top to ourselves. Its not the nicest but it works. Our bathroom looks like a bathroom in a third world country but hey, I guess I couldnt have luxury my whole mission. One fact about our mission is that every companionship has access to a car. The answer to, "Do you have a car?" is YES. We are in the middle of nowhere. As for the people they seem to be pretty nice. I only know about 5 families because we didn’t have church on Sunday so I will have to wait another week for that. Elder Rice is quiet but you wouldn’t know he had only been out for 6 weeks if no one told you. He knows all the lessons so we dont have to worry about that. We stayed the night in Kalispell where I got the chance to meet the infamous Elder McClaws, relative of the Smiths.

So for the work in Lewistown, there are lots of Eternigators, not investigators. There are lots of people that the missionaries in the past have just visited and not really taught. I told Elder Rice that we need to make some changes and he agrees. I will give you an example. K: If he knew the Bible any better than he does I would think he would be angel Moroni, except for the fact that he is about 400lbs and talks with a southern accent. He has been many places in the world and in all those places he has taught many a sermon. He said that he was also on TV for about 4 years. He knows the Bible but that’s all he knows. So me, being the new missionary, not knowing K. personally, decided to poke around a little bit and ask him about the Book of Mormon. He transformed from this nice big southern man, to..... THE DEVIL HIMSELF!!!! AHHHH. Honestly, scared the poop out of me. It was the most intense conversations I’ve ever had on my mission. He started testing me and asking me questions to things that I honestly did not know the answer to. He told me that I should keep my mouth shut and not talk about things that I didnt know about. Then he went off on this whole sermon on how he didnt read anything besides what the word of God was and that was it. I came to conclusion that he had no idea what the BOf Mormon even was. So, we took the chance to explain it a little and he said, "oh, I didnt know that." In the end we invited him to read a few chapters.

Thats pretty much the week story with missionary work in Lewistown. We have been executing "Operation Hitler" Weeding out the weak and keeping the strong. Or, the non progressing and progressing. I will keep you informed on our Operation.

One more quick: We visited this less active family that gave us their pre-bapitzed lives of being wicken witches. To be continued.....

We are shearing sheep today so I will let you know how that goes next week.

Goodbye Helena; hello ??????

When do the Arizona missionaries report to the MTC? If soon there is a good chance I could get hooked up training one or the other. Im in a good spot to do that because...........................
I am.....right now.....writing to you.....from Helena!

2nd Email

I hoped you liked that first email because I am in all reality writing to you from Helena. Can you believe that? I totally thought I would be out of here by now. But, we got a call that said we won't be leaving for another hour. AHHHHH GOt ya. I am leaving. Just not for another hour. Yep at 1:00 I will be gone. It was the hardest thing packing and saying goodbye to everyone. Church was hard and so was this morning. Especially saying goodbye to brother Barrett. I have lots of addresses and phone numbers. ALOT. It will be hard going to my next area. My new comps name is Elder Rice and he has only been out for about 6 weeks. He is brand spankin’ new. This is how its going to be: I don’t know my new area, I don’t know my new companion, and I don’t know any of the people who live in my new area so everything is going to be completely new. All together. Now, all of this probably poses the question: Parker, stop screwin around and tell us where the freak your new area is? Does it? OK. I will now tell you where I will be serving next. Its the exact middle of the state and only has one ward within a 100 mile radius. District meetings are going to be a 3 hour drive every Tuesday. THe water flows like wine and the people flock to the missionaries like the seagulls of Capistrana. It can only make one's toes tingle at the sound of its name. Its a little place of about 10,000 called:

3rd Email and 20 minutes later...

LEWISTOWN.

Yep I am getting transferred to Lewistown, MT. Whoo weee.. Cant wait. Its going to be crazy. I have no idea what to expect. We are getting in the van in a little bit and driving up to Kalispell for (which means we will stop in Polson. whoo whoo) the night and then heading over the high line to Great Falls and then meet my comp to take a 110 mile journey to the Town of lewis.(PS my comps name is Elder Rice from Florida and I have never even seen a pic of him.) And I know that you guys will go around telling everyone where I am and stuff like that so let me make sure that you guys know how to pronounce the town properly. Its not pronounced - "Lewis-ten" but " Lewis-town" Just like its spelt. Ok got that all cleared up. Good? alright.

Gossip time: Is Krissy Ison Pregnant yet? What about KT? What about Julie (married to mr shneebly)? What about anyone else? I heard a billion people were getting married. next, did you see or meet Linda Willhite at the wedding/reception?

FOR THE AZ MT missionaries: I dont know what advice to give them. I think they should probably try to buy most of the big items for winter, like a jacket, before they leave. Make sure its not a trench coat too. You don’t want to look like a mobster walking down the street. If they come in the summer thought they could probably get all the rest of their acc. out here. I would say buy at least the jacket at home and get all the other stuff out here. As for shoes. Just get some good ones that they can wear wool socks with. Mostly all missionaries wear their normal shoes during the winter. I did. Even when it was -30. As for shirts, I would say, 5 short sleeve and 5 long or 4 and 4. whatever they want. I love my short sleeves. Thats about it. I just wished I had a little tool bag and thats about it. Also, I hate wearing dress socks while proselyting. I just like regular black cotton sports socks. ive worn dress socks like twice in the whole year Ive been out. At least the thin ones.

We got a little snow the other day but it all melted.

Couple more things before I sign off. I will probably finish emailing tomorrow.

Today is Good Monday for me...

As always, my letters have no structure. I will start off by saying, I know that this will be my last week in Helena. I've already started packing. I have collected lots of things in the, close to 8 months, that Ive been here. Hopefully I will be able to get it all to the next place. PS. I will be sending some things home. A sword and some other things that I don't need that are wasting my space. Ahhhh. Helena. I will miss you.

Elder Journey goes home in 6 weeks and Elder Tanner and some of those other old dogs will be home in 3 months after this next week. The mission is going too fast. I don't know what I am going to do when I get home. I dont want to get married.

Did you guys hear that President Fisher got called to be an area authority? Yep, Craig G. Fisher, I knew it would just be a matter of time. The Big Dog got even bigger. We all missed the Sat Morning session because we were helping someone move. I guess I will just have to read it in next months ensign. I heard it was good. Dont know. And then we missed the first 15 mins of Afternoon because we were getting dressed. Thats when I think PFish got called. I just have to say that Priesthood session was what I needed the most. Patience and Diligence were the talks for me. Its too bad that all the people who NEED to watch conference are Less active. They need what was talked about. A theme that I caught was: We need to learn, gain a testimony, gain faith, have gospel conversations, etc, All of that needs to take place IN THE HOME. FHE, family dinners, etc need to happen and often too. I'm glad that was stressed. I've been able to see a lot of bad things that all stem from poor family relationships. Its all about the family. Bam. End of story.

I really thought that the General Young Mens president looked a lot like Ron Davidson. Make sure that he knows I said that. I thought it was really him up there for a second when He got up. Whats his name. David L. Beck? Ron Davidson's twin?

On the Capital Lawn here in Helena, they put out about 8,000 hard boiled eggs for an easter egg hunt. It was nuts.

I have a website that you guys need to look up that some less active members were watching when we stopped by. pinkstamper.com it is the most Utah thing that I have ever seen.

When does Taylor Dahl leave on his mission? Does he go to Provo first?

Alright. Time for a report of Last Week: First, the 2nd of April was Elder Newmans B-day so we (Elder Lewis, Conway, Coker, and myself) woke up at 4:30am and drove to Cokers and Conways house to pick them up. After that we stopped in at Wally World and bought a nice loud air horn and some orange/cinnamon rolls along with some candles. We then made our expedition over to Elder Newmans and Rogers for a little wake up call in East Helena about 8 miles away. Plans had already made the night before clearing things with their land lord and Elder Rogers. He was going to open the door for us at about 5:45 so we could do the dirty deed done dirt cheap. We swiftly made our way down to the basement bedroom and woke him up with a nice little ring of an airhorn. We made cinnamon rolls, orange rolls, gave him some presents, and went home. The End.

Clifford and Sara, or should I say, Wind Walker and Little Dove, set a baptismal date for May 1st. (I won't be here) They are doing pretty good and got to watch several General Conference sessions this past weekend. They both have strong testimonies and are reading the scriptures together, loving learnig and speaking Injun. Cliff is Cherokee (oklahoma?) and we found out that he speaks: Navajo, Cherokee, Choctaw, Chipewa, Shishoni, Arapaho, Cheyanne, Commanche, and Yahki River. He knows but is not fluent in: Apache, Hapoi, Gros Ventre, and Blackfoot. He is pretty much the Medicine Man. He showed us all of his "goods" last week that will have to take a little trip to the garbage after we teach Word of Widsom. They are doing great.

Thats it for me this week. sorry it was short. I am already having withdrawals from a knowledge of leaving Helena.

Wssssssssssssssst... Tac Taw (blessings be upon you, now go)
