Important things first. I already know about Leinart being out and Anderson in with Hall as a back up. I already know these things. All the major and professional things I know about. We've got good resources plus, when we eat at ESPN, I mean, Pizza Hut.... never mind. The things I DON'T know about are all the college sports like: ASU, Conference mix ups, etc etc and BYU going independent and all the games they lose. Those are the things that I need to know.
It seeeeemed to me that VIDEO GAMES was one of the themes of my week. They aren't bad but when you have a wife and three kids, you're not getting to church, you're neglecting your family, and you are doing nothing but play video games... that's a little bit of a problem. At least, those are my thoughts. What do you think?
Our Zone had another sweet week of excellence. We did really well in finding, teaching. etc. We did though, however, have a missionary go home this last weekend. He was one of the new guys and just wasn't feelin it I guess. Before he went home he talked to his family, his stake President, His Bishop, and I'm sure others and he still called it quits. I was quite sad. President Gardner basically told him, "You either stay out and follow Jesus Christ or you go home and follow Satan." He chose the latter of the two. It was pretty tough and because he was in an area about 300 miles away from Billings it screwed us up pretty bad with our mileage allotments. The missionary that was with him should be headed back today with a visa waiter from the MTC.
For our area, we had a dang good week. We are teaching two new people. Ones name is D and the others name is J. Do you remember the college kids who came last week and one of them wasn't a member? Ya? Well the one non member, D, we had a lesson with last Tuesday and he is reading the Book of Mormon, going to church and probably going to get baptized within the next couple months. He is awesome. He met this girl where he is from and started dating her. (Tremont, UT?) and told us that he originally was investigating the church for her but NOW. It was all him. When we taught him you could just feel how much he hungered and thirsted for knowledge. One of the most attentive investigators that Ive ever taught. Get this. The girl that initially started his investigation, invited him to church for the first time one Sunday and the main speaker/Presiding authority was Elder Holland. I don't think D really, even still, understands who Elder Holland is but he was like, "Ya That Elder Holland guy was a really good speaker and really made you feel good." "He has some good things to say. Especially to the youth." Elder Snyder and I were both in awe at his first church experience. Have you ever heard of the term "Golden Investigator?" Well, that would be an understatement for this kid.
The other N.I. for the week is J. He is the non member Husband of a Less active member of our ward who is the daughter of Active parents in the ward. Does that Make sense? The Active Parents are actually related to the Mcdowells in the 9th ward. He is really interesting and is very hard to read. I cant really make sense of him but we asked him to read the Book of Mormon and he said He'd do it. I will keep you updated on him.
J and J are not on the spiritual high that they were before. Right now they don't have a really good rep and they are struggling with that. They have lots of DRAMA in their lives and are having to deal with a bunch of garbage that people are dealing out right now. We had a good visit with them but, unlike we thought, the conversion process might take a little longer than expected.
The ward is really going through some crazy things. Ive never seen anything like it. I guess with all the new move ins and what not they feel a need to change all the callings around. So far, the whole YM and YW have been reorganized. The High Priest's Group just got re organized. The Elders Quorum is getting reorganized. Lots of things are changing. All at once. Its good though. The ward needs some new blood.
I forgot my planner so I forgot most of the things I was going to write about to you. All of the little things that don't really matter but I will try to get those to you guys next week. Our zone conf is this week and it is outdoors. Which means that we are wearing jeans and T's. That should go over pretty well. That's what I will be writing about next week. Cant believe its already week 4 of the transfer.
Booyah,
Elder PHeywood.
